Plymouth Tea with a Kick!

Smeatons Mead

This is one of the most common recipes using hot tea and alcohol together. It's a spicy tea drink with cloves, rum and cognac. The brewed clove flavor and dark rum gives an exotic-tasting cocktail that's unique from an ordinary hot cocktail.

Ingredients:

1 oz cognac
1 oz dark rum
1 cup  of Freshly brewed Plymouth Tea

Several cloves
1/2 tsp honey
Pinch of nutmeg

Preparation:
Heat tea and other ingredients together in a saucepan. Serve hot with a cinnamon stick.

Hot Orange Argyle

This sweet and warm drink only takes 15 minutes to prepare enough to share with you and someone else. It will be worth the time you take to prepare it and impress the one you're with.

Ingredients:

1-1/2 cups nearly boiling water
1 Tbsp. pure maple syrup
2 Tbsp. almond liqueur
1 Tbsp. orange liqueur (cointreau, grand mariner, or similar)
2 Plymouth Tea bags (Mayflower Blend)

Preparation:
Pour hot water over Plymouth Mayflower bags; cover and brew 5 minutes. Remove Tea Bags. Stir in remaining ingredients. Serve hot.

Janner Grog Brew(JGB)

This one is so simple to prepare and packs a traditional punch.

Ingredients:

1 1/2 oz. rum
Ground Ginger to taste
Prepare a cup of your favorite Plymouth Tea Blend (Drakes, Armada or Mayflower)

Mixing instructions:
Add Rum to hot tea. Add ginger to taste. Stir and Enjoy.

Pilgrims Punch

This recipe makes enough for your late winter party to keep everyone warm. 14 cups of this hot fruity punch will surely be the talk of the evening. I'll bet none of you other friends served this at their party

Ingredients:

4 oz. curaçao
2 cups strong hot Drakes Blend

1/2 cup lemon juice
1 750-ml. bottle dark rum
1 cup orange juice
brown sugar, maple syrup, or honey to taste (any of these provide the right sweetness)

Mixing instructions:
In a saucepan add hot tea, fruit juices, sugar, syrup, or honey, and mix well until all sweeteners are dissolved. Add Curacao and rum. Heat contents but do not allow them to boil. Stir well and serve in mugs.

The Ultimate Luxury Cream Tea

Cream Teas have been around Britain since the 11th Century and have disputed origins whether being borne of Devon or Cornwall either way we know that they can be the perfect accompaniment to a summer day.

At Plymouth Tea we are not disputing the method but merely giving our humble opinion on the best ingredients you will need

Scones (now this can prove trickier than one might think, Some scones with crumble when you cut into them, some will give you a nasty baking powder after taste, and some for some absurd reason will have sugar on top!)

Plymouth Tea recommends you choose Scones from www.devonsconecompany.co.uk  Theses scones can be, if necessary cut into 3! And in our humble opinion are the best.

A local Jam of your choice. Some jams can be very very sweet so we recommend a raspberry jam however most people prefer strawberry but try and choose a jam which contains whole fruit, not a jelly.

Clotted Cream is very important, do not be tempted to use whipping cream or even worse tinned sterilised cream, it must be a clotted cream. We recommend, Langage Farm Clotted Cream www.lanagefarm.com with its golden crust and delicious taste  it spreads perfectly and tastes wonderful.

Tea, you’ve guessed it! You must pick a luxury tea for your cream tea, It cannot be a tea which leaves a bitter after taste or a tea which has no taste whatsoever. It must be a tea which brews quickly but doesn’t stew quickly.

Plymouth Tea is a luxury tea which makes your cream tea perfect.

Tea for the Cornish!

Plymouth is viewed by a great deal of Cornish folk as ‘’being part of Cornwall’’ Plymouth has endured a treasured position in this stead, often remaining neutral in the Devon & Cornwall rivalry.

Indeed recently the Cornish Pirates Rugby Club were considering a move to Plymouth Argyle F.C to play games, and though there were some rumblings most people on both sides of the border seemed to agree it was the best solution, one wonders what the response would have been had they been looking to move to Torquay or Exeter.

We here at Plymouth Tea love Cornwall and love the Cornish way of life and we believe you will love our luxury Plymouth Tea, with 3 blends to choose from depending on your particular preference.

Part of our mission over the next 12 months is to introduce Plymouth Tea to the Cornish and Cornwall. We are sure you will love Plymouth Tea as much as we do.
